Just a few days after the Chicago White Sox selected Colson Montgomery with the 22nd pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, Montgomery earned more honors at the 2021 Indiana High School Sports Awards. The Southridge alumnus garnered the Indiana Baseball Player of the Year Award and the Indiana Male Athlete of the Year Award.

The Indiana High School Sports Awards honor elite local athletes across the state each year. The ceremony was streamed on YouTube on Thursday evening. MLB Hall of Famer Chipper Jones presented the Baseball Player of the Year Award, while NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal presented the Male Athlete of the Year Award.

Montgomery helped Southridge capture a Class 3A State Championship in June. The Raiders seized a 2-0 victory over Hanover Central at Victory Field in Indianapolis for the championship.

The full ceremony is available to watch on the USA Today Network Ventures YouTube channel.
