LYNNVILLE — Jenna Donohoo hit a walk-off RBI double to give Tecumseh a 4-3 win over Heritage Hills in PAC softball last Wednesday.
Donohoo’s game-winner came after Katelyn Marx led off the frame with a double and Taylor Ash reached on a hit by pitch to put two runners on with nobody out.
Heritage Hills had tied the game in the top half of the inning. The Patriots loaded the bases with nobody out when Emma Day reached on an error, Haley Fisher singled and a pitch hitting Mayci Litherland before Miriam Gordon hit a sacrifice fly to make it 3-3.
The Patriots took an early lead in the first after Jenna McDowell led off with a double and scored on Mia Kiegel’s RBI double that made it 1-0. Sarah Day followed with a single and Emma Day’s sacrifice fly extended the margin to two runs.
Tecumseh got a run back in the bottom half on Brianna Marx’s RBI single to cut the deficit to 2-1. In the fifth, Donohoo hit a two-run RBI double to give the Braves a 3-2 edge.
Natalie Feather earned the victory for Tecumseh in the circle, pitching a complete-game and allowing three runs—two earned—on four hits and a strikeout.
Kiegel started the game for the Patriots and went 4 1/3 innings and surrendered three runs—one earned—on two hits and two walks. She also struck out three batters. Gordon took the loss in relief, giving up one earned run on four hits with two walks.
Donohoo led the Braves offensively and finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
For the Patriots, McDowell was 1-for-3 with a run while Kiegel finished 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Heritage Hills closed the regular season on Saturday by beating Evansville Memorial 6-2 to improve to 18-8.
The Patriots drew a first-round bye in the IHSAA Class 3A sectional hosted at Jasper and will play the winner of Monday’s Washington-Pike Central game on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the semifinal. If Heritage Hills wins, it will play for the sectional title on Thursday at 6 p.m.
