Patriots sweep Marksmen in tennis
TELL CITY — Heritage Hills beat Tell City in PAC girls tennis on May 9.
In No. 1 singles, Emma Zanibellato continued her impressive campaign with a 6-0, 6-1 victory and playing No. 2 singles, Kenley Bell ousted her opponent 6-0, 6-2. Ella Commens made it a clean-sweep in singles, winning 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3.
Becca Heeke and Miah Rahman were winners in No. 1 doubles 6-2, 6-0 while Taylor Ruxer and Arrissa Hall teamed up in No. 2 doubles to win 6-1, 6-1.
The win over Tell City followed another PAC win over Boonville on May 8.
Zanibellato won her No. 1 match 6-0, 6-0, Bell was victorious 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 and Commens won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 3 singles play.
Rahman and Heeke and Ruxer and Hall both won in doubles, 6-3, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-2, respectively.
Rebels win quad match, Schiff earns medalist honors
BOONVILLE — Dealing with slow greens, Cade Schiff played well and shot a 37 to earn medalist honors at Boonville Country Club on Thursday.
Zach Hamilton got off to a slow start but rattled off several pars in a row to finish with a 42. Briten Gee carded a 43 while Andrew Boultinghouse rounded out the scoring with a 46.
On May 7, the Rebels won the inaugural Rebel Invitational at The Rustic Golf Course and Schiff earned medalist honors with a score of 82. Gee tied for second overall by carding an 85 and Isaac Wittman shot an 86. Boultinghouse rounded out scorers with a 98.
As a team, South Spencer shot 351, 12 strokes better than second-place Boonville. Castle was third at 368 with Princeton and Corydon Central rounding out the top-five with respective scores of 377 and 378. The 12-team field also included South Central (389), Mount Vernon (400), Evansville Central (402), Reitz (420), Evansville Christian (430), Tecumseh (434) and Tell City (442).
Raaf, Boerste shoot 45 against Knights, Wildcats
SANTA CLAUS — Heritage Hills finished third in a triangular match with a score of 186 against Castle and Mater Dei.
The Knights beat the Wildcats to win the match by one stroke, 162-163.
Nolan Raaf and Dakota Boerste both shot a 45 to lead the Patriots in scoring while Preston Coop and Daniel Guth rounded out the scoring with 47 and 49, respectively.
Braylon Maxwell and Noah Rexing also played, finishing with 50 and 53.
