Elizabeth “Betty” Posey Yeager was born in Evansville, Ind., to John Adams Posey and Morrell Wells Posey, and died recently at the age of 86.

Betty earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Indiana University in 1957 and her Master of Science degree in Biochemistry from California State University at Long Beach in 1979. She retired as a development biochemist from Beckman-Coulter Diagnostics in Brea, Calif., in 1990. She then retired again as an upper division biochemistry laboratory academic coordinator from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCLA in 2002.

Betty and her family lived in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., since 1964. She met her husband, Walt, at orientation week at Indiana University, and they married after she graduated in 1957. Betty was a lifelong learner, and her memory will be cherished by her family for her positive attitude, compassion, and her passion for academics, gardening and science interests.

She is survived by daughters Joan (Greg) Tennison, and Claire Yeager; granddaughters, Samantha (Luke) Moeller, and Shelley Tennison; and great-grandsons, Cole Herrington and Connor Moeller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; and daughter, Susan.
