TELL CITY — Tell City swim team on Thursday competed against Heritage Hills in what ended up not going in the Marksmen’s favor. The boy’s team lost to the Patriots by a score of 111-61, and the girls lost 94-91.

Tell City was heading in the right direction in the first three meets. They finished first place in the 200-yard medley relay for boys and girls and the girls’ 200-yard freestyle.

The girls’ 200-yard medley relay timed at 2:09.50. The athletes involved include Gabrielle Ettensohn, Anna Armstrong, Emma Hollinden, and Briley Applegate. On the boy’s side, Tell City’s Alex Mattingly, Evan Hagedorn, Luke Sanders, and Alden Marion timed at 2:03.96. Event 3, the girls 200 yard freestyle, saw Amara Combs of Tell City lead the way by timing at 2:23.23.

Isaac Moore represented Tell City in event four in the boys 200 yard freestyle. Moore finished third place and stopped at 2:28.48.

Kiara Bundy, in event five, participated in the 200 yard IM. She finished third place behind Avery Vinson and Bridget Flannagan of Heritage Hills. Bundy timed at 2:40.83. The boys 200 yard IM gave Tell City another top-three finish. Evan Hagedorn took second and timed at 2:39.96.

Tell City, in the 50 yard freestyle, took first and third place against the Patriots. Gabrielle Ettensohn placed first with 27:32, Kate Hinshaw of Heritage Hills took second with 27.94, and Tell City’s Briley Applegate placed third for a time of 28:53.

Alden Marion helped Tell City sweep the 50 yard freestyles as he took first in the boys’ race. He timed at 25.64. Lachlan Russell placed fourth.

Girls one meter diving finished with Tell City second and third. Emilie Roll and Felicity Dixon took second and third with scores of 174.65 and 129.20.

Emma Hollinden added another first place finish for Tell City in the 100 yard butterfly. She timed at 1:14.18.

Josue Padron for Tell City took second with a time of 1:13.11 in the boys 100 yard butterfly.

Event 13 for Tell City went to Briley Applegate, who placed third with a time of 1:03.88 in the girls 100 yard freestyle. Alden Marion for the boys 100 yard freestyle placed first and timed at 57.67.

The girls 500 yard freestyle ended as a crucial meet for Tell City. Anna Armstrong and Kiara Bundy finished first and second with times of 6:10.82 and 6:17.04. Alex Mattingly represented the marksmen in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 6:51.48 and took second place.

Girls 200 yard freestyle finished as event 17. Tell City, in this event, finished first with a time of 1:53.47. Gabrielle Ettensohn, Amara Combs, Kiara Bundy, and Briley Applegate took part in the relay.

The boys’ 200 Yard Freestyle Relay took place in event 18. Tell City finished second with a time of 1:49.83, and the athletes include Luke Sanders, Isaac Moore, Evan Hagedorn, and Alden Marion.

Gabrielle Ettensohn for Tell City helped the girls’ team get another first place finish in the 100 yard backstroke. She timed at 1:11.23. Luke Sanders and Alex Mattingly finished first and second in the boys’ backstroke with times of 1:15.18 and 1:18.24.

The 100 yard breaststroke for the girls’ side ended with Anna Armstrong finishing third for Tell City and the Patriots finishing first and second. Meanwhile, Evan Hagedorn took second and timed at 1:18.35.

Tell City in the 400 yard freestyle relay finished second in the girls and third in the boys as those two races concluded the meet.

Tell City on Saturday participated in a meet at Mount Vernon with six schools represented.

Tell City in the girls 200 yard medley relay finished fourth in the first meet. They timed at 2:11.44. On the boys’ side, Tell City took third place in the 200 yard medley relay.

The 200 yard freestyle finished with Tell City’s Amara Combs placing fifth in the girls’ race and Isaac Moore finishing eighth in the boys race.

Kiara Bundy, in the 200 yard IM, placed fifth in the race. She timed at 2:45.80. Evan Hagedorn also placed fifth in the boys 200 yard IM. He timed at 2:44.98.

Gabrielle Ettensohn for Tell City placed fourth in the 50 yard freestyle and timed at 27:56 in the race. Alden Marion also placed fourth in the 50 yard freestyle. He timed at 25:72.

The 100 yard butterfly for Tell City ended with Emma Hollinden taking fourth and Luke Sanders placing third in the girls’ and boys’ races. They timed at 1:15.65 and 1:13.07.

Tell City’s Briley Applegate and Alden Marion represented the school in the freestyle. Applegate took fifth and timed 1:05.28. Marion timed at 58:42 for seventh place.

The 500 yard freestyle at Mount Vernon finished with Anna Armstrong and Kiara Bundy taking fourth and fifth. Alex Mattingly took sixth in the boys’ race.

Event 17, the girls 200 yard freestyle relay, ended with Tell City second. They timed for 1:58.24. Athletes taking part in this relay for Tell City include Gabrielle Ettensohn, Amara Combs, Kiara Bundy, and Briley Applegate.

Event 18 for Tell City in the boys 200 yard freestyle relay led to a fourth place finish. Athletes in this race for Tell City include: Luke Sanders, Isaac Moore, Evan Hagedorn, and Alden Marion.

Gabrielle Ettensohn boosts the Tell City team score with a third place finish in the girls 100 yard backstroke. She timed at 1:10.22. Luke Sanders in the boys 100 yard backstroke finished fourth.

The 100 breaststroke races for Tell City finished with Anna Armstrong and Haley Mechels placing fourth and fifth. Furthermore, Evan Hagedorn placed fourth in the 100 yard breaststroke.

Lastly, the 400 yard freestyle relay races concluded the meet. Tell City’s boys’ team took fifth, and the girls placed third.

Tell City’s diving team saw success in the girls’ event, with Emilie Roll and Felicity Dixon taking first and second. Aaron Hilgenhold for the boys’ one-meter diving took fifth.

Combined scores had Bedford North Lawrence first at 712 points, Mount Vernon with 651, and Tell City third at 563. Vincennes Lincoln, Evansville Christian School, and South Knox took fourth through sixth places. Tell City’s girls’ team scored 359 points which is second out of all the girls’ teams. Mount Vernon led the girls’ scores with 425 points. The boys’ score for Tell City added up to 204 points. However, that fell short of Mount Vernon’s 226 and Bedford North Lawrence’s 486.
