TELL CITY — Rita M. Harmon, 72, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at her home in Tell City.

She was born in Tell City, Ind., on Oct. 3, 1949. Rita was a 1967 graduate of Cannelton High School.

She was united in marriage on Aug. 31, 2016, to Michael Harmon. Rita worked at several of the major Tell City employers through the years including, Tell City Chair, Can-Clay, and Commercial Filters. Rita was active in the Tell City Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and enjoyed singing and playing piano, cards and board games, fishing, horseback riding, sewing and crochet, arts, crafts and antiques, and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Michael Harmon of Tell City; her mother, Madeline (Merle) Harpenau of Tell City; son, Thomas Lawalin of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Kylie and Caleb of Indianapolis; and a nephew, Darren (Laurie) VanConia of Evanston.

Preceding her in death were her father, Andrew J. VanConia; and her brother, Ronald “Ronnie” L. VanConia.

Visitation will be Friday, July 22, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., along with a funeral service at 6 p.m.

Memorial contribution may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
