Melvin Armon Lamey, 82, of Winslow, Indiana, entered into rest at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana on May 3, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Melvin was born on his family farm in Haubstadt, Indiana on February 7, 1941, to the late Harold and Lorine Lamey.

Melvin graduated from Haubstadt High School in 1959 and then attended Bradley University of Illinois to study horology for watch making, before joining the Army National Guard in March of 1962.

Melvin owned two jewelry stores: one in Jasper, Indiana and the other in Oakland City, Indiana. Melvin was an avid golfer and was a member of Oakland City Country Club. He loved farming, gardening, and playing cards. He enjoyed wood working and building furniture. Melvin loved traveling and watching sporting events and marching band activities for his grandchildren.

Melvin is survived by his sons, Michael (Monica) and Kevin (Paula) Lamey; daughter, Darlene Perry (Jeff); significant other, Phyllis Bamberger; brother, Tom Lamey (Louise); grandchildren, Bobby Perry (Desiree) of Winslow, Indiana, Brittney Gibson (Alex) of Spurgeon, Indiana, Johnnie Perry of Oakland City, Indiana, Daniel Lamey (Megan) of Oklahoma, Ashley Kirkman (Tyler) of Santa Claus, Indiana, Taylor Lamey of Ferdinand, Indiana, Kaila Lamey of Winslow, Indiana,

Madalynn Lamey of Winslow, Indiana, Erika Lamey of Colorado, Jacob Lamey of Jasper, Indiana and Matthew Lamey of Jasper, Indiana; and 12 great grandkids.

Melvin is proceeded in death by his parents, Harold and Lorine Lamey; brothers, Larry and Jim Lamey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Lamb Basham Memorial Chapel on Sunday May 7, 2023, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. officiated by Father Kenneth Betz
