What was a fantastic season for the Springs Valley softball team came to an early end on Monday, May 24. The Blackhawks, fresh off of clinching a winning season with a victory in their regular-season finale against Orleans, traveled to Wood Memorial to open sectional play against the host Trojans and fell 10-7 in extra innings.

The Trojans were all revved up to defend their home field, dropping four runs on the Blackhawks in the opening frame. Back-to-back singles, a walk and a double to get things going led to a 4-0 Wood Memorial lead.
