SARASOTA, FL — Paul M. Howard, 97, passed away on May 20, 2023. Paul grew up on a family dairy farm in Sale Creek, Tennessee, before joining the U. S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge, Paul attended and graduated from the University of Tennessee. Paul started his career as a high school teacher in French Lick, Indiana. There he met and married Betty Clark. This past December they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. After teaching for five years, Paul went to work for the United States Department of Agriculture’s Soil and Water Conservation Service, from which he retired in the late 80’s. Upon retirement, Paul and Betty moved to Sarasota, Florida, where they lived for thirty years.

Paul is survived by his wife, Betty, his two sons, Jeff and Don, their wives, Susan Albert and Jean Howard, four grandsons, Jacob (Rachel Howard), Zack (Emily Schnur), Ryan Howard, and Jeff Howard, and four great grandchildren, Mia, Marlow, Samuel, and Ivy.

He was a good man, who lived a good life. He will be missed.
