PAOLI — Marcus McGuire of Paoli will receive a $5,000 scholarship from Duke Energy to help pay for his post-high school education.
McGuire, a senior at Paoli Junior-Senior High School, is one of 55 high school students selected as part of the 2022 Duke Energy Scholars Program. This fall, he will attend Indiana University in Bloomington to study business management. His father is Eric McGuire.
“We’re proud to support dedicated individuals like Marcus that recognize the value and importance of furthering their education,” said Stan Pinegar, president of Duke Energy Indiana. “We are honored to provide scholarships to help local students continue to learn and explore future careers.”
Scholarships are awarded annually to graduating high school seniors who are the dependent children of qualified Duke Energy employees and retirees. Award recipients are selected based on academic record, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors and awards, adult appraisal, work experience and other factors.
Scholarship winners do not have to work for Duke Energy after graduation and there is no implied promise of a job.
Duke Energy Indiana, a subsidiary of Duke Energy, provides about 6,300 megawatts of owned electric capacity to approximately 870,000 customers in a 23,000-square-mile service area, making it Indiana’s largest electric supplier.
