Jackie Russell “Jack” Shipley

Jackie Russell “Jack” Shipley, 75, of Orleans, died Jan. 9, 2022 at IU Health Bedford Hospital.

He was born Aug. 8, 1946 in Paoli, the son of Howard and Ruth (Batchelor) Shipley.

He married Melody Crockett on Nov. 26, 1986 and she survives.

He attended Paoli High School and graduated from Lincoln Diesel Mechanic College in Tennessee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany. He was in several Covered Wagon Trail Clubs. Jack enjoyed hot rod garden tractor pulls. He raised and bred mules and horses and rebuilt old John Deere tractors. He worked for more than 26 years at N.S.A. Crane as a heavy equipment mobile leader.

He is survived by his wife of Orleans; one daughter, Cindy Shipley Busick (Marty Frank); two granddaughters, Keisha Garriott (Jason) and Courtney Emberton (Zack); three great-grandchildren, Bryson Garriott, Haislee and Brixley Emberton; one brother, Larry Shipley; and two sisters, Pam Shipley Kile and Carolyn Shipley Stephens.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Gary Lee Shipley.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2022 at Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home in Orleans with Pastor Lyndon Hopkins officiating. Burial follows in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Orleans.

Friends are invited to visitation at the funeral home Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
