Benny D. Owen, 83, of Paoli passed away peacefully Friday, May 6, 2022, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany.

He was born Jan. 16, 1939, in Cuzco, Indiana to Elvis E. Owen and Lillian Blanche Crowe Owen.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elvis E. Owen and Lillian Blanche Crowe Owen; brother Ellis J. Owen; and nephew David G. Owen.

He married Grady J. Carwile Sept. 1, 1956.

In 1974, Benny established and operated Owen Detective Agency up to 1988 when he sold his portion of the business. He owned a furniture and gun store for many years. He enjoyed working with all local law enforcement departments. Benny was an avid CB Radio enthusiast, always generous with all and an avid animal lover. He was a member of the Prospect Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Grady Owen of Paoli; daughter Angela (Billy) Jones of French Lick; nieces, Donna Wininger of French Lick, Cassie Dawn Vera of Smyrna, Tennessee and Buffy Mathews of Bakersfield, California; nephews, Jamie (Mary) Owen and Cody Owen of Tucson, Arizona; grandchild, Matthew W. (Clair) Jones and great-grandchild, Indiana W. Jones, both of Lebanon, Tennessee.

Funeral service was May 10, at Dillman-Scott Funeral Home with Larry Mickler and Mike Prestininzi officiating. Burial followed at Paoli Community Cemetery.
