JASPER — The Jasper Board of Public Works and Safety appointed Jasper Police Officer Josh Greener to the position of Detective in June of 2022 and recently appointed Jasper Police Officer Aaron Schmitt as the department’s newest Detective.
“Officer Greener has the experience and knowledge needed for being a great detective. His dedication to this profession will serve the community well in his new role as detective,” according to JPD Chief Nathan Schmitt
Detective Greener is a graduate of Forest Park High School and a graduate from the University of Southern Indiana with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Detective Greener also provided 6 years of honorable military service with the Indiana Army National Guard and served a tour of active duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Detective Greener began his law enforcement career with the City of Henderson, Kentucky Police Department and has served with the Jasper Police Department as a patrolman since 2018. Detective Greener received training as a Field Training Officer, Bike Patrol, and has attended various investigative training courses while serving with the Jasper Police Department.
Detective Greener is a member of the Ireland Knights of Columbus. Greener, his wife and children currently reside in the City of Jasper.
Detective Schmitt has served with the department as a Patrolman since 2016. In addition to his duties of patrol, Schmitt is a Field Training Officer, a Law Enforcement Instructor, an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course Instructor, a S.T.O.P.S. Instructor, a D.A.R.E. Instructor, Bike Patrol, and an APOD interview evaluator.
“I am excited for Officer Schmitt to start his new role as detective and know he will continue to do great work for the police department and the community,” Chief Nathan Schmitt said.
Detective Schmitt is a member of the Ireland Lions Club. He is a Jasper High School graduate and graduated from Vincennes University with an Associate’s Degree in Conservation Law Enforcement and a Bachelor’s Degree in Homeland Security and Public Safety.
Detective Schmitt and his fiancé reside in Jasper.
