JASPER — The Indiana State Department of Health reported one new COVID-19 case in Dubois County on Friday.

The state health department has recorded a total of 6,226 positive cases in the county since the pandemic began, and 118 deaths related to the virus. A total of 21,187 county residents have been tested.

ISDH reported Friday 247 new cases across the state, bringing the statewide total to 752,699 cases. A total of 13,399 Hoosiers have died from the virus. Another 423 probable deaths have been reported.

The COVID-19 testing site at the former Ruxer Golf Course building in Jasper is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. It is closed on Sunday and Monday. The testing site will close for good at the end of the month.

Testing is for anyone who lives or works in Indiana. Anyone can be tested, even those not showing symptoms. There is no charge for the testing. However, if you do have private health care insurance, you are asked to bring that to the testing site.

Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center has closed its COVID-19 drive-thru testing site that was located at the corner of Third Avenue and Rumbach Street in Jasper. According to a news release, the closure is due to the recent decline in the number of COVID-19 tests being performed.
