The Forest Park Band Boosters held their monthly meeting on Monday, Feb. 1. President Bret Eckert welcomed boosters. A motion was made to approve the minutes from the last meeting by Duane Lorey and second by John Brosmer. Carol Lichtey gave the treasurer's report.
Bret Eckert reported that the sales of the discount cards are almost complete. There are a few more to sell with only one or two people who still need to turn their cards and/or money in. Information on how to get a band card will be put on the Pine Ridge and Forest Park Band Booster Facebook pages.
Karen Brown reported that the February raffle winners have been drawn. They are: $300, Vicki Bettag; $100, Steve Kern, Daniel and Virlee Wendholt, Dean Fehribach, Terri and Mike Bell, Cindy Knies.
Donna Weyer reported the next can and paper drive will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 9 a.m.
Bret Eckert reported that the sales from the basketball concessions are down this year due to the COVID-19 restrictions on who is allowed to attend the basketball games. There are still four boys varsity basketball games and girls basketball sectional.
Mr. Obermeyer announced band camp dates : Meet & Greet- May 11, 13, 18 and 20 from 6-8; Rookie Camp (for all incoming seventh-graders, eighth-graders, and new marchers)- July 5-8 from 9-12; Mini-Band Camp- July 19-22 from 10-4, and Band Camp- July 26-30 from 9-9. Percussion Camp is to be determined.
Bret Eckert reported that the Band Banquet has a tentative date for the end of April.
The Dine and Dance has been canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Bret Eckert asked for new officer nominations for the vice president and treasurer positions. If anyone is interested or has suggestions, let Bret or Brandon know. Carol said she would help the new treasurer.
John Brosmer reported that the trailer is at Ruxers getting fenders and back painted. The truck is getting the oil changed.
Bret Eckert did announce that we received a trailer from Masterbrand for the Flea Market.
Mr. Obermeyer reported that the pep band will start playing at the basketball games on Thursday, Feb. 4 and will play the rest of the home games. The sixth-grade band has started, they will be getting their instruments soon and 21 students have signed up. Joe will no longer be working with the marching band. He will finish the color guard design and flags. Mr. Obermeyer is in contact with other people to help with marching band. The band will be marching in the Strassenfest parade this year.
