JASPER — A community Christmas Tree was placed on the Dubois County Courthouse lawn Monday for the 2022 holiday season, thanks to a donation from local residents Craig & Peyton Popp of Jasper.
This large tree serves as the main Christmas tree for Jasper — for the entire holiday season.
The lights on the tree, the beautiful red bows and the planters on the Patoka River bridge were financed by Patoka 2000, a committee of the Jasper Chamber. Contributions were received by individuals in the community in memory of loved ones, or in honor of special occasions.
The perimeter lighting on many of the downtown buildings and the 17 large flower pots that line Main Street were financed by individual merchants and also by the Greater Downtown Jasper Business Association and Heart of Jasper. Heart of Jasper volunteers also worked hard this year (with the help of Green Thumb) to remove the summer plantings from the large flower pots and put in the festive Holiday Décor.
Over 100 decorative wreaths have been placed throughout the entire downtown area as a 2022/2023 project from ROJAC and the many ROJAC members that contributed/donated for these updated holiday decorations.
The City Electric Department did an outstanding job again this year of installing all of the garlands, lights, wreaths and the community Christmas tree. They also attached the red bows to the tree and were responsible for designing, making and placing the star at the top of the main tree.
Through all of these efforts the City of Jasper will have a bright and festive look throughout the entire holiday season of 2022.
